Adam and Jessica met each other on a blind date, one that Adam wasn’t invited to.
Jessica says, “My friend and her boyfriend were trying to set me up with their friend so we went to a restaurant/bar. While me and my girlfriend were waiting for the guys, Adam walked in and knew my friend. He hung out with us a little bit and ended up hanging out with us all throughout the night. It was a little awkward but I clearly liked Adam better than my ‘setup.’ A few weeks later, I applied at a restaurant and Adam happened to be working there and handed me the application. We worked together for a few weeks and here we are 10 years later!”
There might not have been any difficulty swapping out boys all those years ago but there was quite a bit of drama swapping venues at River Landing right before wedding day. Jessica says, “Not many people know this but two days before our wedding, Jenna from the venue called to tell me that the lodge was flooded and washed out and I couldn’t have my wedding there. I planned my whole wedding around this lodge and the covered bridge that is just before it. I was so upset that I couldn’t get married there and would miss the opportunity for pictures with the covered bridge. The venue thankfully had 3 other venues on site and I was lucky enough to be their only bride on my wedding date so I was able to pick from the others. I chose the clubhouse ballroom and veranda which was still gorgeous.”
When it was time to relay her advice, Jessica had something simple to pass along that was rooted in her venue mishap. She says, “Enjoy your day, nothing will work out perfectly no matter how well you plan.”

Jessica has a fun story about her china: “I collected Vintage Antique China as soon as I got engaged. I went to many thrift stores and met with people from Craigslist or other classifieds sites to buy their China. It took me a year to collect 150 floral pieces with gold and silver accents. It was my favorite part of my wedding and all the guests said it was their favorite part too especially when I told them I spent a year collecting each piece.”
