Joe and Meg’s love has spanned the world. It started when they met in Japan, continued in Baltimore, and kept going through their wedding in Emerald Isle.
Meg says, “Joe and I met in Okinawa, Japan after a series of fortunate circumstances had me living across the parking lot from him. He was stationed there while in the Marine Corps and I was on a study abroad program. We met at the E-Club called ‘Thirsty’s’ on my first night there when he was blocking my view of SportsCenter. We went on our first date the next day and spent the rest of the summer together eating CoCo’s Curry and snorkeling every chance we got. As he says ‘Meg was studying abroad and I was studying a broad.'”
The couple traveled to Eastern North Carolina from Baltimore for their wedding because this is such a special place to them. Meg says, “Joe PCS’d to Cherry Point after Okinawa and I was still living in Seattle. I would fly out to Jacksonville every three or four months for weekend visits. Emerald Isle is the first place we said ‘I love you.’ It happened on New Year’s Day and it was the first time I had ever seen dolphins outside of a zoo. I’m hooked on the Crystal Coast.”
Here’s the advice she’d like to pass along to you: “Write down your favorite parts of the wedding the day after. It is so easy to forget all of the little things that happened. It is so fun now just three months later reading about all of the little things that I had forgotten about.”
