Today’s Real East Carolina Bride entry comes to us from Caroline, a bride whose Kinston wedding is coming up in October 2016.
Johnston’s and my wedding is less than a month away, and I am very excited. First and foremost, I am excited about spending the rest of my life with the man of my dreams, and I cannot wait to begin our journey together as a family. I am also really excited about the actual day of our wedding. I have been envisioning this day since I was a little girl, and I cannot wait to see how all the details come together. From my dress to the flowers to the music, my style is classic elegance, and I hope that that is apparent to everyone present. I am not one who likes a style merely because it is trendy at the moment, and I have purposely chosen décor, flowers, music, our attire, etc. that will be just as beautiful in 2066 as they are in 2016.
The wedding will be the first and probably only time that all our friends and family will be together at the same time, so our wedding is the perfect opportunity for us to be able to thank all of these wonderful people for helping us get to this point in our lives. There will be some very important people who will not be with us in person (all of our grandparents), but I believe that they will be with us in spirit and pleased with the people we have become.
There is nothing in this world that I love more (besides Johnston and our dog Emma) than food, particularly dessert, and our wedding cake is going to be amazing! Brown’s Sweet Treats will be making us a 5-tier white cake with lemon buttercream icing and flowers from the bouquets for decoration. We are also having the bridesmaid’s luncheon and rehearsal dinner at Chef and the Farmer. I am confident that whatever Vivian Howard’s staff whips up for us will be simply divine.
Perhaps what I am most looking forward to is our honeymoon in the Bahamas. I started a new job in February of this year, and in order to have enough time off for the wedding and honeymoon, I haven’t been able to take a single day off from work over the past eight months. Very simply, I am tired and in need of some rest and relaxation on a warm beach.
Lastly, I am so blessed to have had my mom coordinate everything as I don’t know how I would have been able to plan the wedding from long distance. I know she is happy that this day has finally arrived, and I hope that it is as special for her and my dad as it is for Johnston and me. I want to live in the moment and be fully present on our wedding day. I know this day will fly by, so I hope that I do not get overwhelmed by the minutiae and enjoy every moment as it happens.
