Tony and Katherine went all in on their Chicago Bears themed wedding. You should see these fantastic details.
When asked what inspired their theme, Tony puts it simply, “The Chicago Bears did! Being a Chicago Bears fan is a Thomas family tradition.” Katherine, adding more detail, says, “Tony’s family are BIG Chicago Bears fans….I am not. One thing I learned about being a part of the Thomas clan, there is no other choice but to embrace the Chicago Bears.”
As for the Bears-related details, Katherine says, “We chose our colors navy blue, orange and white, added little touches of Chicago Bears to the wedding. The screens for the selfie booth green screen were photos of Chicago and a Chicago Bears sign. Our cake was navy blue and white but the inside of the cake was a bright orange and navy blue. Tony, our son, and myself wore Chicago Bears socks. Tony wore Chicago Bears cufflinks. The tuxes were navy blue with an orange vest for the groomsmen. Tony wore a white vest in his tux. Their ties were all the colors of Chicago Bears. It may sound like it was overboard Chicago Bears but it wasn’t.”
The couple originally met through the Marines. In 2003 Katherine’s father, a Sgt. Major, introduced her to Tony, then a Sgt., when she moved to Kansas City for college.
Their best decision of the wedding, other than the Bears-related goodness (obviously), was what they chose for cocktail hour food. Tony says, “Having our caterer, The Flame (ECB/Web), create a bacon bar, for the first time, for our wedding and it was awesome!” Katherine agrees: “I agree, the bacon bar was a huge hit with our family and friends. We got the idea from 4 Weddings on TLC. They even saved me some bacon for after the wedding! How amazing was that?!”
